ABOUT ME

Marta Garrett is a singer, composer, educator and session musician, a unique voice that moves between jazz, indie-pop, Brazilian music and original songs. She was born in Lisbon, where she began studying classical piano and grew up in the jazz school and on the stage of the Hot Clube de Portugal.

Her higher studies led her to integrate the musical scenes of Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and Copenhagen. Upon concluding the European Jazz Master’s Program she was a resident singer in a concert hall in Tokyo for four months, before settling in Barcelona.

With over fifteen years of experience, she has stood out in co-led projects such as ZOE, Just In Trio and MIGRA, and as a sidewoman in formations such as The Bop Collective, Extraño Weys, The Gramophone Allstars Big Band or Sílvia Pérez Cruz's Solstice Choir.

After Un a Un (2024, Say It Loud! Records), her first album of her own songs produced with Leo Aldrey, Marta has released Assanhado (2026, The Changes Music), a work that explores Brazilian, North American, Portuguese and Catalan sounds, co-arranged with guitarist Leonardo Mezzini.

She is currently preparing a new project of Catalan poems set to music and leads and performs in different formations: Duo Assanhado, Un a un . trio, Assanhado 4tet and Un a Un 5tet.

In addition, she has also presented Un a Un in octet with arrangements for winds and voices at the Festes de La Mercè in Barcelona in September 2025, and Assanhado in sextet with flute and percussion at the Festival de Residents de la Fabra i Coats FIL_IN in March 2026.
